Automobiles in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were contacted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.

A senior official stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
